Complete New Build

Designed and conceived by the highly respected Devon based architects, The Bazeley Partnership, this private residence takes its styling from the Arts & Crafts movement.

After removing a nondescript and structurally unstable 1950’s dwelling, this property was created from the ground up. The client wanted to incorporate a subterranean wine cellar. This was built in a traditional manner with vaulted stone ceilings and stone faced anti-chambers.

As the main contractor we were tasked to complete the build in its entirety – a four story construction using the latest building methods but incorporating facing and detailing that harks back to the Arts & Crafts period.

Using traditional building skills and methods in the construction of the wine cellar with its intricate vaulted ceilings and stone work was one of the projects most rewarding aspects.

The construction of the roof too was memorable. We sourced the highest quality natural slate that was sympathetic to the local area and incorporated a ‘standing seam’ roof. External details like the cut granite window surrounds, quoins and the manufacture of a unique entrance porch are also worthy of mention
